Our Beach Favorites 2017

via

It feels funny to do a “beach favorites” post when there isn’t a beach within 200 miles of us, but hey, we have pools. Ha! This weekend we have some family coming to town and because it’s a bit too hot to sightsee, we’ll probably be hanging around the pool as much as we can.  We’ve rounded up some of our favorite beach essentials from around the web.  Hope you guys are enjoying these (official) first days of summer.  Where are some of your favorite beaches around the country?  We’d love to add one to our list of “places to visit” this summer.

Put a bow on it!

It’s been a while since we’ve shared an outfit post. With all the crazy time changes and climate changes, I haven’t really thought about style for Arizona this season too much. I’m not fully ready to dive into shorts and tank tops, despite what the triple digits over here are telling me to do, so I think think this comfy blush and beige look will have to suffice. 😉 We snapped some photos on our way out of our friend’s flower shop the other day, because really, the set up at Camelback Flowershop is always too beautiful not to photograph. (We brought home some great plants for the living room! Can’t wait to share the space with you guys!)

Some new favorites with Nordstrom Rack

His: The Kooples shirt | Topman jeans | Aldo shoes (similar here) | Coach watch
Hers: Kate Spade dress, watch, and sunglasses (similar here and here) | Steve Madden shoes (similar here)

We are huge advocates for affordable style.  We’ve always believed that dressing well has more to do with fit, quality, and versatility than just picking the “best” brand off the rack and throwing it on.  Every year around this time, we try to add pieces that can be worn in different ways, as layers, or accessories that work for any occasion.  Mixing high and low. It’s definitely more strategic than it looks.  Picking out neutrals, timeless patterns, and comfortable shoes are very important to us.  Nordstrom Rack is definitely not a new kid on the block, but we’re late to the game with discovering just how great the deals are. We often have trouble justifying an expensive watch or bag, so it’s been great to add some new pieces to our wardrobe without feeling guilty. 😉 Here are a few favorites for him and her we’re currently loving…

Our Swimwear Picks: Summer ’17

image via

It’s heating up out there and we are ready to hit the pool here in Phoenix.  There are only two ways to stay cool here in the summer and that’s either staying inside or hanging out at the pool.  While we do spend much of our time indoors, we do try to relax and take a swim when we can.  This summer should be filled with travel, summer gatherings, and lazy days.  Here are some of our favorite swimwear picks from around the web that we’ll be looking to sport this summer.

Formal Nights with Princess Cruises

We’re definitely guilty of indulging in a pajama day on the weekends or opting for a cozy night in, but there’s something to be said about how you feel when you dress up and pull yourself together. Like many we were completely obsessed with Mad Men, and part of the reason why we tuned in each week, aside from how incredibly bad ass Donald Draper was, had to do with the focus on fashion. Dates, parties, baseball games, even flying on plane…people used to simply dress up more for the occasion. READ MORE

Our Favorite: Travel Sneakers

New Darlings Our Favorite Travel Shoes

Aritzia coat | Madewell scarf | Topshop jeans | Gucci bag | Everlane sneakers

We have never been big sneaker people, but once we began planning for this Scandinavian cruise with Princess, and looking at the itinerary (seven cities in eleven days), we knew we’d need some comfy walking shoes. Some of the excursions begin at 7am and continue well into the evening, so heels and structured boots didn’t seem like the smartest choice. We packed a little smarter for this trip, and know that a few of our favorites below will definitely be making it into our suitcase again for our next adventure!

Blushing in Paris

Ah, Paris! We completely fell in love with the city and got super lucky with our Airbnb being super close to so many great cafés and shops. (More details about the apartments coming soon! I know some of you guys are planning trips to Paris, and were inquiring about where we stayed.) We snapped some photos on the way to breakfast at Holybelly one morning, while passing through this pretty square. It was quite windy that day so layers were ideal and gave me the opportunity to bust out this leather jacket that has been collecting dust in my closet. 😉 I toned it down with a pleated blush skirt and feminine off the shoulder top. Nordstrom Men’s Spring Favorites

Prada shoes | Saturdays NYC sweatshirt | Topman jeans

Spring is in full swing over here and we’re loving these breezy overcast days. We’ve been trying to spend as much time outdoors as we can, as our place is a little stuffy with all the dust, paint, and all the other fun stuff that goes along with a remodel. 😉 We’ve been in and out of the house a lot, and bringing Henry everywhere with us. It’s a lot of excitement for him, and we’re loving having the little guy with us just a little more than usual. Brunch, Home Depot, he’s becoming quite the explorer. Haha. We’re hoping that we’re about a week out from everything being complete, then a deep clean of the house and patio is next on our list.  READ MORE

A Visit to the Sézane Librairie

It’s no secret I’ve been a fan of Sézane for quite some time now. We have had the pleasure of working closely with the brand over the course of the last year and just when I think they can’t get any better, they release a new collection that is innovative yet still somehow retains their classic feel and nod to years past. Their bags and shoes are some of the most well made pieces in my closet and I was thrilled to visit their librairie while we were in Paris.

Sunset at Pont Neuf

Back in the spring of 2011, we were spending a few days in south Florida visiting some family.  The two of us spent an afternoon downtown having lunch and then spontaneously decided to catch a movie.  We had no idea what was playing, nor did we really care too much.  It was one of those days where going to the movies was all we wanted to do.  We have those days quite a bit actually, but there is just something about watching a story unfold, eating popcorn and snacks, tuning out the real world, and getting sucked in to a good film.  We looked at the list of movies playing, and the title Midnight in Paris caught our eye.  We had recalled seeing the trailer a bit before our trip and have loved Woody Allen for years, so it felt like the perfect afternoon date.
