In the coming weeks, we plan on sharing a more in-depth look at our current living room setup, but until then, we thought it would be fun to share some items that have inspired us to make some changes in our home. Yes, we’re always changing things up over here, but we’re trying to get back to designing with a purpose, and most importantly with our southwestern landscape in mind. When we first launched our blog in 2014, we were new to the southwest, and smitten and inspired by the our new home and the scenery that surrounded us. Our 2015 apartment reveal was an homage to the desert and we never felt more at home then we did in that space.

Desert Interiors House PlantsOur current home has seen many changes in the 3 years we’ve lived here. When we first moved in, we wanted to switch things up. It was our first home, and we thought it was only right to change direction a bit, rather than throw all of our older pieces right where they were in our apartment. The design was challenging, as we tried to design for a traditional, historic home and not necessarily to our taste. In hindsight, I think we would have maaaaaybe held on to some of the pieces from our apartment and built off of them, but we did not, and we lived and we learned. We loved the home we created, but it always felt a little off.

Mom and Me Style Neutral Tones2019 was an interesting year for us. We announced our pregnancy in January, stopped traveling in March, had a baby in June, and haven’t left Arizona since. It’s the longest stretch we’ve been home since those first two years in Phoenix. We’ve been soaking up the desert, raising our newborn baby boy, and remembering why we loved it here from the start. This time has really allowed us to refocus and tinker with our design in a way that we haven’t done in a while. We are re-energized, and excited to bring in all the neutral, earthy tones we’ve always loved so much. As Oliver comes of age, and grows up in the desert, we really want to celebrate that starting in our home.
