Each season we try to start a littler earlier with checking a few gifts off our shopping list and every year we fall victim to the same go-to gifts for our loved ones. We’ve been trying to think outside the box a little bit and find some useful and fun gifts those close to us. We’ll be sharing a series of gift guides over the next few weeks and thought we’d kick things off with some gift ideas for the “go-getter” in your life. Think: the one who loves being outdoors, into music and all the new gadgets, the one who’s always ready for anything, the adventurer.
We’ve been carving out some time early each day to embrace the quiet, brisk mornings with our doors and windows wide open. The chill when stepping out of bed when our bare feet hit the hardwood can sometimes be a bit shocking, but once we’ve thrown on some cozy clothes and have gotten ready for the day, the lower temps are pretty calming. We still can’t believe we live here. It really feels like we found a special piece of the country tucked away in Phoenix. Our neighborhood is pretty quiet, with the occasional rooster or chicken exercising their vocal chords each morning (I guess you could call some of our neighbors “urban farmers”) and we welcome their clucks while prepping our morning brew.
We’re a coffee loving, few cups of caffeine a day family around here. Cappuccinos, espressos, lattes, the list goes on — we don’t discriminate, so we were pretty excited to add Nespresso’s Evoluo Machine from their VertuoLine range. We ditched our traditional coffee maker a while back, and found ourselves getting into pour overs. They can be a bit timely but we love the taste of a strong Americano, so we were really eager to add the the Evolou Machine to the mix. We’ve been sharing a bit about it on Snapchat, experimenting with the Aeroccino4 Milk Frother, and chatting with a few of you about the process. It quickly brewed an 8 oz cup of coffee and shot of espresso, while still delivering a quality cup of coffee. If you’re looking to get fancy in your kitchen and make a couple of cappuccinos, try it with a double shot of espresso.
The machine has a nifty capsule receptacle, so once you open the machine to pop in a new capsule to brew, the used one drops off into the compartment on the side. You can pick up a recycling bag for free at any of their boutiques or order them online and then drop off all your used capsules at a UPS store to recycle, which is pretty cool too.
With Christmas just around the corner, we have found ourselves reminiscing quite a bit on our childhood and the holidays growing up. Maybe it’s all the sappy Christmas music or the smell of cookies that we’ve been baking several times a week (no excuses, just fully embracing a sweet tooth over here!), but we can’t help it. The other day over breakfast, we found ourselves laughing over a similar memory we both shared involving our parents on Christmas morning. After a few big toys were opened our dads always snuck away, dragging their slippered feet into the kitchen to get a big pot of coffee brewing. Meanwhile our moms held down the fort in the living room, with bows and colorful paper flying everywhere. Madness. We all gathered in the kitchen afterwards for a holiday breakfast, parents on their second cup of coffee, kids with orange juice or milk, scrambled eggs, pancakes — the works. No matter how crazy of year it was, gathering together before our extended family came over was always a special time.
The smell of coffee this time of year always rekindles these fond memories. Nespresso has some limited edition capsules with some of our favorites like Banana Bread, Pumpkin Spice Cake, and Gingerbread. Our parents always feel so difficult to shop for. They’re not picky, but I think we just struggle with finding something that is practical and also meaningful to surprise them with. We’ve been thinking about gifting them with a new Evoluo machine, along some capsules to get them started, and a personalized photo album with memories from past Christmases. It feels like it would be pretty perfect for them, with a big bow and tag that says “Open This One First” so they know it’s something they’ll want to open and enjoy right away. We think we just might hit a home-run this year in the gifting department. 😉
Last night we drove back from Joshua tree (that place was such a dream!), picked up a pizza to-go on the way home, curled up, and watched The Santa Clause by the tree. As much as we look forward to Christmas day, the build up and little traditions carried out during the holiday season is our favorite. The music, movies, gift giving…just call us Clark Griswold. We love it all!
We’re excited to share another gift guide this season with some cozy gift ideas for the guy in your life. One of our favorite things to do on the weekends, especially this time of year is take the mornings slow, brew a cup of our favorite coffee, and cozy up in loungewear with a record spinning in the background. UGG has some great gift ideas for men this year with everything from soft knits to leather backpacks, and all-weather boots for your next adventure. We rounded up a few of our favorites below:
Father’s Day is coming up and we thought it would be fun (and hopefully helpful) to share some gift ideas. We both have a tough time shopping for our dads…it feels like they have everything they need and they are both kind of work-a-holics. So what can you get them that would feel like a little indulgence or special treat, while still being thoughtful along with a hand written note? Usually around any holiday there are a ton of gift guides floating around the internet and they all have a similar feel. Our dads couldn’t be any more different from one another…one likes sports the other likes cars. One is a little more handy around the house, and the other enjoys the outdoors. One goes to work with a suit and tie each day, and the other works with his hands. So with our very different dads in mind we rounded up a few our favorite items from Jack Spade, that will hopefully give you a few gift ideas for your dad too! They have a great selection of classic pieces, for every type of guy. We may or may not have focused on some travel essentials for them, that would be perfect for when they visit AZ…hint, hint. 😉 (Hello, dads trip!!)

The holidays are the most wonderful time of year…there’s no denying that, but they can also be the craziest time of year. Luckily we haven’t had anyone setting the christmas tree on fire or electricuting the cat, like the Griswolds in National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, but from last minute gifts to preparing a big meal, it’s definitely easy to get overwhelmed. We recently put together a little holiday survival kit with Hanes, to get you through this busy season, stay relaxed and prepped for all the holiday parties.
Mini Baby Powder: Baby powder is such a great multi-purpose beauty product. It’s obviously nice for after showers and baths, but its perfect to freshen up your hair and skin too. Kind of like a dry shampoo and shine powder in one. Plus it smells great.
Red Lipstick: Mac’s “Russian Red” and Kat Von D’s “Outlaw” are great festive shades that last all day.
Tights: Black tights and a printed dress is always a fool-proof holiday look. Around this time of year, you can’t go wrong with sheer styles to complete an outfit; these from Hanes are a long time favorite.
NuMe Curling Wand: The best curling wand, hands down. The largest barrel is great for creating, soft, loose curls with big volume.
Cologne: Some favorites that are always on rotation are Commodity Goods’ “Wool“ scent and “L’Homme” by YSL.
Watch: Be on time for all the holiday parties with a classic time piece. The Metropolitan from Timex is pretty cool. It has built in bluetooth, calories and steps trackers, and also syncs to your phone. We’ve been having fun playing around with it.
Comb: Always keep your hair in place with a good quality comb. There are so many beautifully crafted ones that fit in your pocket, while you’re on the go. We have a few of these Kent combs that have lasted for years.
Festive PJs: Comfy PJs to curl up by the fire with while watching a holiday movie and a hot cocoa in hand is the best. You really can’t go wrong with anything plaid this time of year.
We both shared the same tradition as kids…opening up our stockings last to see a little surprise on Christmas morning. One thing we always wait til the last minute for around the holidays are stocking stuffers. Sometimes we end up throwing in a few candy canes, a gift card or two, and some chocolates. While those all are fun treats, we wanted to come up with some stocking stuffer ideas that were a bit more useful and thoughtful this year. Here are some of our favorite gift ideas, all small enough to fit in a holiday stocking, while still making a big impact. 🙂
FOR BOTH TO SHARE
–Ornaments: We just picked this one that holds a polaroid picture with the year on it.
–Polaroid film smartphone printer: This thing is too fun. There have been so many times we’ve forgotten our polaroid camera, and wished we had the physical photo to display in our home and for memories. This printer connects to your phone over wifi and prints photos from your camera roll in polaroid form.
-Camera/phone accessories: like this fish eye lensand portable charger.
-Bring the outdoors in with this miniature bonsai tree kit.
-Holiday decor: Love this snow globe picture frame as a gift or to decorate in your home with a family photo.
-More candles…because you really can never have too many and P.F. Candle Co’s Teakwood and Tobacco scent is so good. 🙂
We can’t believe it’s already the last day of November. We just put our Christmas decorations up and are in full holiday mode. Here are some of our favorite gift ideas and Cyber Monday sales from around the web, to get you started on your holiday shopping. Cozy slippers (for him and her), sweaters, and small accessories are always some of our go-to gifts.

We hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving with their family and friends. We had a great holiday celebrating with some friends at our place, eating a lot of turkey, and ending off the night roasting marshmallows around a fire pit in our yard.
Today we are decorating around the house and skipping the lines in the stores, doing a little Black Friday shopping online. 🙂 Below is a round up of some of our favorite sales that are happening this weekend, along with some favorite gift ideas!
We recently collaborated with American Eaglefor their newDenim X line! They have the perfect amount of stretch and a ton of versatile washes for daytime wear to fancy date-nights. This weekend we kept things simple and casual for strolling around town and stopping at some of our favorite vintage shops. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, sweet little gifts and date-night outfits have been on our minds. We can’t get enough of red and pink and heart-shaped everything! Head over to the AEO blog to see some of our favorite gift ideas for him and her and what we have planned for Valentine’s Day!
The holiday rush is in full effect! With gifts for your significant other wrapped and ready under the tree, holiday cards mailed out and stockings hung, sometimes it can be all too easy to forget a hostess gift `till the last minute. Finding a hostess gift can sometimes be a challenge, but it’s a really sweet way of showing gratitude. A lot goes into hosting a holiday or even the smallest of gatherings, so it’s always nice to show up with a little something to say “thank you” with. Here are some our favorite ideas for the “hostess with the mostess”!
We are Robert and Christina: husband and wife, photo takers, adventurers and best friends. We like to laugh too hard, dance all night, and explore together. Here is a little glimpse into our lives in sunny Phoenix, Arizona.
