If you’ve been following along with our blog since the beginning, well, first of all, thank you so much, and secondly you would know that we are not the biggest beach people. You may have seen us on a beach maaaaaybe three times in the last 4 years. The most obvious reason for this is that we live in the desert where the nearest American beach is 350 miles away, and the other reason is that…well honestly, we just have never been the biggest beach goers.
That brings us to this post…Ha! Recently, we’ve found ourselves dreaming of days laying on the beach, reading a good book, barely moving, and relaxing in the sun. Most of our trips are spent hustling and bustling through various cities and while we love that, it can sometimes wear us down. We can’t express the excitement we had as our trip to Jamaica drew closer.
While our house is being renovated for the next 4-5 months, and we are living in our very tiny guest house, we are fortunate enough to have planned a few trips to coincide with this timeline. Our trip to Jamaica was exactly what we needed. I don’t remember the last time we took a nap in the middle of the day, but on this trip we did that on multiple occasions. I feel guilty even writing that, which is probably why it’s taken us so long to actually slow down and take a trip like this. Recently, we have found ourselves having to remind ourselves to enjoy being present and that’s its ok to take time doing whatever we may doing at that moment (whether its watering the plants in the yard, answering emails, or just reading together), without worrying about what we should be doing next. We completely slowed our pace and actually followed through with reading on the beach, swimming in the ocean, and eating all the fish tacos our bodies would allow. It was pure bliss and made us realize how much we’ve been missing out on these types of trips, and how good they are for us.
Couples Resorts was nice enough to host us on this trip, and we had such a great time. The best part about Couples Resorts is the fact that the people there are typically newlyweds honeymooning, older couples celebrating anniversaries, or just couples looking to chill out all day. It isn’t too rowdy and we all have the same goal: relax on the beach with the one we love. We’ll be planning more of these trips reeeaaal soon! Are guys more city travelers or tropical travelers? We’d love to hear in the comments below!
