Jazz Favorites

Feb 28, 2017 | By New Darlings

Jazz records have always been our go-to for our morning playlist.  Our daily routine always starts with taking Henry for an early morning walk around the neighborhood, coming home and boiling water in the kettle for our coffee and tea, and picking out our morning record.  For years, we have been adding to our collection and building a library of classics as well as some deeper cuts and with all the jazz hype surrounding the release of La La Land, we thought it would be fun to share some of our favorites with you guys.  These are mostly (if not entirely) classic albums that if you are starting from scratch, would be a great place to start.  Enjoy!

1 – Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong – Ella and Louis

2 – Miles Davis – Kind of Blue

3 – The Thelonious Monk Quartet – Monk’s Dream

4 – Charles Mingus – Ah Um

5 – John Coltrane – Blue Train

6 – The Dave Brubeck Quartet – Time Out

7 – Herbie Hancock – Maiden Voyage

8 – Lee Morgan – The Sidewinder

9 – Cannonball Adderley – Somethin’ Else

10 – Sonny Rollins – Saxophone Colossus

We also just recently upgraded our record player to the Orbit Plus Turntable with the Audioengine A5+ speakers and our mornings have never sounded so good.  We’d love to hear your jazz favorites, morning routine playlist, or if any of our picks will be echoing through your walls.
