Our five year anniversary trip continued on from London to one of our favorite cities on earth, Paris. We got up extra early to take the Eurostar from St. Pancras International to the Gare du Nord station which clocked in at just over 2 hours. Not too shabby! When we arrived, it was cold, windy and rainy, but when you’re in Paris, that’s completely okay. As usual, we hit the ground running when we landed in Paris. It’s a city with too many good things, so it’s hard to not want to try to see as much as possible all at once. We tried to pace ourselves, but that definitely didn’t happen. We were those crazy people jogging up the steps and hills in Montmartre trying to catch the sunset.

You’ve all probably heard (or maybe experienced yourself), that Paris is the most romantic city on earth. Maybe you agree with that and maybe you don’t, but for us, it sure does the trick! We are suckers for beautiful architecture, fountains, cafes, people watching, sightseeing, and we couldn’t help but smooch our way through it all 😉

Almost every morning, we would walk from our hotel to Café Kitsuné, grab some coffee and pastries and then head over to the Colonnes de Buren, have a seat and watch everyone taking their photos, and goofing around. The kids roller-skate or ride their scooters, we’d be amazed at some of them hoisting themselves up onto the tallest pillars, and we’d sit back, sip our coffee and enjoy the sunshine. It’s one of our favorite spots in Paris, and we loved having that as our morning routine while we were there.

Our favorite night from our trip was probably as cliche as they get. Our picnic at the Eiffel tower was filled with treats, laughing til we cried, and a conversation about how the heck we ended up there. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again.. traveling wasn’t a huge deal for us five years ago. We were perfectly content being the homebodies that we were, but as soon as we put ourselves into unfamiliar cities and countries, it really allowed us to grow as people. When you see how others live their lives, and cook their food, and the lay of their land, you not only appreciate that, but you start to appreciate your own city even more too. We are incredibly grateful to have spent our five year anniversary hand in hand through London and Paris. It was an absolute dream! We’ve set the bar pretty high for our 10 year anniversary. Let’s hope it’s even better than this one. Until then, we’ll enjoy these moments and memories for a long time.
