Growing up, the autumn and fall seasons were so special…especially on the east coast. The holidays were around the corner, school breaks were rapidly approaching, and the thought of carving pumpkins and snow days quickly following soon after were on every kids’ mind. I wore a uniform for most of my academic life, so when a new season approached, I didn’t get super excited for new clothes…however, I always remember going shopping for a new coat with my mom and sisters. It was a ritual of sorts…an outing I always looked forward to. One year it was a pink ski-jacket and another it was a purple wool coat with a matching hat. Yes, you read that correctly…a matching hat. I seriously have to ask my mom to send some photos my way, because from what I can remember they’re quite comical. As years went on a new coat for Christmas quickly became my favorite gift. I remember my first black peacoat as a teen…I felt so grown up with matching riding boots. Whether it was over my school uniform, worn out to dinner with my family, or to the movies with friends on the weekends…whatever the color or shape it was, it gave me confidence when getting dressed.
Even now as adults, we look forward to finding the perfect coat or jacket for cooler weather. Arizona’s fall and winter seasons are definitely different than the east coast, but with visits up north always on our agenda, a new jacket jumps to the top of our wishlist this time of year. I think it would be a great winter coat. If you were to go skiing or something, it isn’t the coat for you, but definitely a pretty option for a heavy winter coat. 🙂 I love it!
