Summer Style: A His & Hers Neutral Wardrobe Guide

Neutral Summer Wardrobe

Temps are over 100 degrees here in the desert, so a summer wardrobe refresh was in order. I rounded up a few pieces for a neutral summer wardrobe that are interchangeable with each other. Plus, they will be great for layering come fall as well. I typically gravitate towards creams, terra-cotta, classic denim, and easy dresses…for the summer I love those softer tones even more. I even threw in some high waisted shorts that are at a longer length, and give great coverage. Scroll down to see some of my favorites. Rob’s summer picks are after mine.

1 – I don’t actually own these, but they look like the perfect warm-weather clog, with a comfrortable heal.

2 – Added these high-wasited white shorts to my closet recently and have worn them a ton. They also have a bit of stretch which is nice.

3 – I have this dress in brown and it’s great for any occasion, and so darn comfortable. Thinking it will be great for a date night in the backyard with Rob when Ollie goes to bed.

4 – Linen tank for the summer scorchers, but also a nice layering piece to add to your wardrobe.

5 – Simple styled linen dress. This could look cute belted too!

6 – A summer straw hat is essential for the Arizona sun.

7 – Love the shape of these sunglasses.

8 – The simplest summer look – easy to just throw on and go!

9 – Gotta have a pair of classic denim shorts, right? I love the vintage feel of these Levi’s cut-offs.

10 – Such a great color and style. Also comes with matching shorts!

11 – We go for a walk pretty much every morning these days, and these sneakers have been my go-to.

12 – This fitted tank looks great tucked into the shorts on this list.

13 – Such a cute, linen mini dress.

14 – This bag is big enough to fit a ton of “mom things”, but cute enough to go with all of the above.

15 – Wide leg AND linen. Yes, please!

16 – Classic espadrille sandal in such a great color.

Neutral Summer Wardrobe

Summer style wasn’t always my thing. When we lived in New York, I was definitely just getting through the summers to get to the fall weather and wardrobe. I’ve always loved layering and bundling up, but when we moved to Phoenix, we obviously had to make some changes. It feels like summer weather here goes from about April until mid-October, so I get a lot of use out of my summer staples for most of the year. I’m someone who doesn’t spend too much time picking things out. I prefer to grab and go, so having neutral pieces to rotate in and out are essential for easy outfits. Here are some of my favorite items for the warmer months.

1 – A classic camp collared, Southwestern inspired, indigo shirt. The trifecta! You can’t go wrong with this timeless piece.

2 – I recently purchased this Stetson straw hat and have been wearing it pretty much every day.

3 – I’ve collected a lot of watches over the years, and my summer favorites are always a simple watch face with a light brown leather strap.

4 – Pants are tough in the Phoenix summer, but I also am not a huge fan of shorts, so when I can, I like to throw on a light pair of chino pants.

5 – This is probably my favorite pair of sunglasses. I have them in tortoise, but I love the look of these for summer.

6 – Like I mentioned earlier, I’m not a huge fan of shorts, but these are a nice tailored pair, that I wear often.

7 – I love a simple T-shirt with a pocket. I wear them pretty much 5 days a week in the summer.

8 – I recently added these tan sneakers to my shoe rotation. I love the color and their made from recycled canvas.

9 – Gotta have a classic pair of Birkenstocks for the summer, right?

10 – I love a camp collar, and this shirt is linen. Win-win!

11 – I added these shorts to my summer staples just last week, and I’ve gotten a ton of use out of them already — way better than an athletic short.

12 – I’m not going to lie, we’ve left the house probably 2-3 times since March 11th, so I haven’t been using a bag too much, but if I was, this would be it.

13 – I’ve slowly been collecting simple, baseball style caps

14 – I love the style and color of this backpack. Now I just need somewhere to take it.

15 – These are probably my most worn shoes/sandals. They go with everything on this list, and they are airy, and comfortable. The perfect summer shoe.

16 – Another classic, pocket tee.
