A few days ago we shared a really special video over on IGTV. We’ve been working with Home Depot for the last few months on some fun home projects and recently had the opportunity to makeover our friends’, Matt & Leah’s, living room.
A little background on the project
Matt & Leah live on a beautiful historic property here in Arizona. There’s chickens, honey bees, a huge vegetable garden and a pretty epic windmill too. They live in the casita on the property and recently wrapped up a pretty hefty renovation. Walls were knocked down, new flooring went in, and a closet addition was built. When we signed on to work with Home Depot, we knew we wanted to do something exciting and what’s more exciting than giving your friends a pretty fun living room makeover?
The Living Room Before
Here are some photos after they started some demo on the space. Floors were ripped up and most of the furniture was moved out. The place was ready for walls to be knocked down, a new kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living room! We couldn’t wait to get in there and start planning and decorating!
Our Mood board + Plan for the Space
We wanted to create a more open floor plan and a brighter space, but still cozy and inviting. Matt and Leah are animal lovers, so we wanted to make sure the furniture and accent choices were suitable for cats and would stand the test of time with many movie nights and gatherings in their future. They just created a beautiful kitchen with bold colored cabinets, black hardware and natural open shelving, so we wanted to make sure the living room complimented that space nicely.
Here’s a look at our original mood board. We filled it with lots of neutrals, a mix in textures, and some faux plants. A printed rug helped give the place an eclectic feel and anchored the room. By the time we ordered the items, some pieces were sold out so we switched a few things around, but kept with this original theme. See the full space below.
a Cozy Living Room with a modern edge
We sourced all the living room furniture from The Home Depot. A few months back we had the opportunity to help host Home Depot’s pop up at The Arch Digest Design Show and we were blown away by their amazing design set up and selection of furniture, rugs and accent pieces. It was really special to see it all in person. I don’t think a lot of people know Home Depot has all of these pieces available online, but it was super fun going through all the pages of product, putting together some mood boards for Matt and Leah and then seeing it come to life. We were super impressed with the quality and the array of styles.
We shared the full reveal in the video here, but here’s a closer look at some of the items in the living room with links to everything. 🙂
Printed Rug | Brass Coffee Table | Similar Basket Tray (Rectangular style here)
Black Round Mirror | Baskets | Faux Snake Plant | Velvet Pillows | Abstract Face Vases
Faux Leather Chair | Boho Fringe Pillow
Similar Throw | Faux Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree | Basket | Sectional Sofa | Fringe Pillow
It was so fun laying the ground work for Matt and Leah’s new living room and being a part of their new space. They are two of the sweetest and hardworking people we know, and very close friends of ours. Right after we surprised them with the living room makeover they started moving more of their personal belongings back in. It was really great getting to hear all about the pieces they had in storage and things from their wedding they didn’t have the opportunity to display beforehand. We can’t wait to see all their special pieces added to the space to make it really feel more like home for them. We will definitely be showing up behind their door for takeout and game nights together in their new comfy space! 😉
