Oh L.A., we love ya, but you make us want to lay in a big bed, order room service, and zone out while watching TV. I don’t know what it is about Los Angeles that leaves us feeling so drained. It’s quite possibly the fact that it takes us an hour to get anywhere we’re going (hello traffic!), but we find ourselves at the end of each day just wanting to take it easy and relax. Luckily, this most recent trip, we did just that!

Last week, we found ourselves in the city of Angels for some meetings and events. We love the energy and the hustle of the Angelinos. It’s such a different vibe than back home in New York and certainly different than our current home in Arizona. Everyone is always on their way somewhere and that type of mentality is infectious. We love what we do, and getting to work together full time is most definitely a privilege, but it’s still a job and we still get a little worn out from time to time, especially at the tail end of the year.
One of our favorite things to do when we travel is to just indulge in the pleasures we don’t get to do on the daily in Phoenix. Staying in a nice hotel with a view of Downtown and Hollywood is not something we get to do often, so it was such a treat to live that life for a few days. We’re huge fans of old Hollywood films, Humphrey Bogart, Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly… Ahhh, the good old days of film.
We found it pretty cool that our hotel was right next to the Fox Studios lot. L.A. is super spread out and we love that you can find some movie history in any part of town. We stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel in Century City that we booked through IHG. We spent quite a bit of time searching through IHG’s family of brands trying to pick a good central location as we knew we’d be spending time in West Hollywood in addition to Venice on the west side. Booking was a flash and our stay was exactly what we needed. Our favorite amenity? The Tesla service to the vibrant Italian marketplace, Eataly that was just a mile from the hotel. The trip was just the perfect balance between work and leisure and we’ll absolutely be heading back to Eataly real soon. Italian food just gets us! 😉
