Sunday Brunch

Oct 30, 2017 | By Christina

Like many the weekends have always been our favorite. It’s the time we’re actually home for most of the day, cooking meals together, and taking the time to enjoy our house. This past weekend we took it easy, caught up on some magazines that have piled up on our coffee table, did some grocery shopping, and just lounged around…which was pretty lovely. We always make a point of having a special brunch on Sundays. It was a tradition in both of our households growing up and a way to unwind and spend some uninterrupted time together. We always play our favorite playlists on Spotify (yesterday it was a bit of Al Greene followed by a lot of Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene) and it’s a nice way to welcome in the weekend.

Ever since we got back from New York with my sister, we’ve been spending a lot of time at home, aside from the usual errands. The work on the casita is progressing…we’re about two-three weeks out still, so in the mean time we’ve been enjoying being a family of three, plus the two pups. It makes these weekend traditions even more special. Eggs and potatoes or pancakes with fresh fruit are our usual go-tos, with coffee and orange juice on the side.

This weekend we cooked up a nice spread with a few of our kitchen favorites. As we continue work on the casita and we begin to think about what we need to stock the cabinets and shelves with, I’ve started thinking about what our most used kitchen items are…a great set of pots and pans, tea kettle, skillet, etc.  So many are items that take a beaten in our kitchen everyday. The Le Cruset line from Bloomingdales is one of our favorites…the quality can’t be beat, and it doesn’t hurt that they’re all super pretty too. I remember when we first saw the house, the previous owners had an extensive red collection stacked in the kitchen and it was so eye catching. I still get a kick out of my love for home goods. The amount of joy beautiful home items brings me is insane, but it definitely helps when you love the pieces you surround yourself with everyday. And who doesn’t want to feel a little fancy while cooking up those morning eggs, even if they aren’t perfect? (And I’m being generous guys hah!) 😉

After some down time, we took ourselves to the fair. It was our first time there after living in AZ for four years. Can’t wait to share some photos we snapped! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

  1. In love with your kitchen! I love Le Cruset; I love how you can cook on the stove and oven and take it straight to the table. They are beautiful!
