A Tuesday Date

Nov 19, 2014 | By New Darlings

Weekends off together are ideal, but sometimes having a random Tuesday off is a really fun treat.  The weather in Phoenix has been great as of late.  Chilly mornings and extremely comfortable afternoons remind us why it’s so great to live here.  Any time we have the chance, we head to the downtown area and explore.  We started off the morning by wandering around some of our favorite shops.  We couldn’t help but swoon over some of the holiday decor that already seems to be adorning shop windows.  Lately we can’t stop talking about Christmas and decorating our tree!  We’re definitely trying to hold out `till Thanksgiving night to transform our apartment into a winter wonderland!

Later in the day, we headed to our favorite hair stylist, Nate Champion at Kustumz Hairshop, for a little trim.  Bangs in your eyes and an unruly beard aren’t the most desirable, when it comes to hair.  (Ironically, we took these photos before our haircuts. Go figure!)  We ended the day by catching a showing of Gone Girl at our local theater.  We recently finished reading the book and had to check out the film.  About a month ago, we started a little book club of sorts, between just the two of us, where we mostly read on our lunch breaks at work and then later excitedly report back to each other to see what chapter the other one is up to.  (“Did you get up to the part where she…?”  “Can you believe….?!”)  It felt good to not have an agenda for the day, split a large popcorn and just spend an afternoon being silly together.  Who knew Tuesdays could be so fun?

  1. My boyfriend and I recently read Gone Girl out loud to each other! It was so fun being able to talk about the book at any moment without any hesitation that we were going to spoil something for each other. Besides getting super parched (haha) it was so great – we’re trying it again now with a different book!

Hope you two have a great weekend!
