Lately it feels like we’re always on the go…and we’re definitely not complaining about it. 🙂 With each new trip or busy day, we’re becoming a little smarter about what we really need to be carrying around with us or traveling with. We each have our go-to bags that we grab each morning while running out the door, with a few essentials. Although, we both seem to gravitate toward bigger bags, we try not to stuff them to capacity…we try our best to avoid any shoulder injuries and that whole black hole affect that we’ve all experienced at one point or another. We’re not trying to be Mary Poppins here. 😉
We’ve never shared a “what’s in my bag” post before and thought it would be fun to do a “his + hers” take on it, as we recently teamed up with Vaseline for the launch of their new lip tins. Vaseline has always been a skin care favorite of ours…life saver for dry heels and elbows…lip moisturizer…I even put some on my lashes at night. It’s one of the oldest, all-purpose, secret weapons around. We were pretty excited about the new lip tins, which were inspired by the original packaging from the 1880’s, and are perfect for on the go! So, here’s a little round up of what you can find in our bags…
-SUNGLASSES: Arizona is sunny — there’s no denying that and with summer around the corner, a good pair of sunglasses is a must. Classic club masters are always a great go-to style. These tortoise frames are also a favorite from Madewell.
-PHONE: Okay, so no explanation needed — we’re probably not alone when we say we’ve turned the car around once or twice when leaving it home by accident. Everything is on there! We’re guilty of having matching phone cases, each bought for each other as Christmas gifts one year.
-COMB: It’s always handy to keep a comb in your bag for touch ups throughout the day, and it takes up less room than a clunky brush. 🙂

-GLASSES: In addition to sunnies, regular glasses are needed over here too! Lately, I’ve been wearing the Durand frames by Warby Parker.
-PHOTOS: Polaroids always end up in our bags and wallets. They’re sweet little reminders to find throughout the day.
-WALLET: Another obvious one! We use simple leather ones (his and hers) that have lasted a quite a while now. The distressing over the years has only added some character to them.

-CAMERA: We’ve always carried around a camera with us, since back in our dating days with a point and shoot SONY. We currently use a Canon Rebel t5i and shoot mostly on a 50mm lens.
-NOTEBOOK + PENS/PENCILS: We’re always sketching or jotting things down in a notebook, and updating things in our planner. It’s amazing how you can sync everything across all your devices now-a-days: iPads, iPhones, iMacs…but there’s something about writing everything down that has always stuck with us.
-KEYS: …you won’t get far without them. 😉 The leather key ring above was a recent purchase from J.Crew.
-MAKE-UP: Dual-compacts are great for space savers. This bronzer/blush duo from Nars is a favorite go-to, and it has a mirror, which is always a plus!
-LIP BALM: The Vaseline lip therapy tins have been great for throwing in our bags and fighting chapped lips, especially with the change in season. The original and aloe are our current favorites. The rosy lips one is really nice too — it has a pretty pink tint with a bit of gloss, and a light rose scent.
-HAIR CLIPS: Bobby-pins, hair ties, hairpins – these are always found at the botton of the bag and it seems like you can never have too many with you, because somehow they always magically vanish.

So many great staples here, I totally agree with bronzer/blush duo being a great space saver when you’re on the go 🙂

Loved this post! 🙂 I always have to carry some mints & Advil in my purse for those random headaches I get. The bucket bag you have is so cute btw!
