You know that old style rule, if you’re outfit is a little more revealing on top then cover up on the bottom? It’s one of the few style rules I follow. Okay, that sounds like I’m trying to say I’m some sort of rebel or something, but really…it makes a lot sense and this summer all I want to wear are maxi dresses, so it’s fun to mix things up with various necklines and accents. It took me so long to get into maxi styles (no pun intended) because as someone who is on the shorter side, I thought they just looked strange on me, but they are so comfortable and airy for these crazy temperatures! They’re all I’m reaching for lately.
Reformation dress | J.Crew bag (on sale!) | Kate Spade sunglasses | Madewell sandals
tarte lip color in “Tulip” | Moorea Seal necklace
While we were in LA recently, I stopped by the new Reformation store and picked up a few goodies. Their pieces have some short hemlines and plunging necklines, which isn’t what I usually gravitate towards, but I love how they balance everything so nicely. For example, a shorter dress like this one, has wider sleeves. This open back style has a higher neckline, and this dress with a front bodice cutout has a looser fit vs a body con silhouette.
Here’s a link to the dress I’m wearing in this post. I linked to a few similar ones below too.
Do you guys follow any style rules or things you keep in mind when putting together outfits?
