We travel a lot, but we haven’t taken a “lounge on the beach with a good book and drink in hand” kind of trip in a longggg time! Earlier this week while we were in Austin, we met up with some friends and started talking about this. We all crave adventure, to see new cities, and experience new things, but there’s something to be said about indulging in the type of trip where you do almost nothing and it is basically everything. Haha! Our honeymoon was a similar type of trip. We actually weren’t even planning on a big getaway, but family insisted that we would want/”need” a honeymoon after the crazy wedding planning. Well, they were right and we were so happy we did. We’re not huge beach people and very ironically we went to Cancun. It is still one of our favorite trips to date. We sat on the beach almost every morning…listened to the sound of the waves, read good books, and ate all the tacos and quesadillas possible. It was perfectly simple and we were beyond happy. We’ve been daydreaming about a similar vacation lately. Not quite sure when or where we’ll go, but that quiet simplicity is really special and often overlooked. We’re guilty of it ourselves.
Anybody have any fun vacations planned for the summer or beach days? We’ve rounded up a few our favorite beach reads below. Romance novels always feel like the ultimate summer read, but we’re not a fan of the cheesey clichés or those paperbacks with a shirtless cowboy on the front. Nope. A few of our favorites have been ones that have a romance theme woven in, with some realness to it that’s honest and thoughtful. Something you could relate to and draw parallels to your own life with. We’re taking a little trip up north for a few days with family who will be visiting from the east coast, and we’re excited to lay by the pool and close our eyes with an audio book playing. It’s not the beach, but the Arizona equivalent and we’re pretty okay with that. 😉
We’ve read #1 and #6 before and couldn’t recommend them more! Looking forward to checking out a few of the others on our list too.
