When Christina told me she was pregnant, so many things changed in an instant. We really started to become aware of what’s in our home and what is and isn’t the best for our bodies. It was important that we were knowledgable on all things baby and healthy baby products. Our job titles changed from Bloggers to Google Scientists. Ha! We started to analyze the ingredients in all the products we use personally as well. It was alarming to see how many brands sneak in those dangerous ingredients into everyday products that people trust.
Something so important that is so often overlooked is our deodorant. For years, we were using deodorant with aluminum and had no idea. It wasn’t something we even thought of. How could something you rub directly against your skin be so bad for you? We were sooo happy to ditch those and switch over to a natural deodorant. We both made the change over to Native. We love that they offer safe products, and never use aluminum, parabens, or sulfates. Also, it’s super convenient to grab while we’re at Target. And hey, we’re always at Target. Ha! My go-to scent is the Eucalyptus & Mint.
Being a guy who breaks a sweat when eating spaghetti (seriously though!), I was skeptical of a natural deodorant actually keeping me dry and smelling good throughout the day…especially here in the hot, sweaty desert, but these Native deodorants work! It feels good to know that I’m not using a harmful product, and also supporting a brand who is doing it right.
Great post! You guys have made me aware of so many products with harmful ingredients, that I never even thought about. Thank you for doing all the hard work and for sharing it with us.
It is nice to read that you are paying attention to toxic ingredients. A great site to check out is: https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/top-tips-for-safer-products/
In terms of deodorant, it might be worth trying rock salt (the rock, not a push up). You might be stinky for a week; however, once your body grows accustomed to it, you will not go back to traditional deodorant. I have one last suggestion, look into organic lipsticks! It is amazing how much our thin lips absorb, and how many toxins are in lipstick.
