Well our house is currently all boxed up and we’re in London for the next week, which is all so strange, but it feels good to know work is starting. I think one of the things we’re looking forward to the most with this round of home renovations is the closet build out. Things have just overflowed to other parts of the house and its taking a toll on our neat and tidy nature, because lately the house has looked anything but neat. The closet build out will be interesting as it will also be where we will be relocating our laundry to include the washer and dryer, so we want to make sure it is pretty and pleasing to the eye, while still being super functional and organized for us.
Here’s a peek at our dream checklist for the closet:
Okay, so keep in mind we said “dream checklist”. We know not all of these will probably make the cut, but the level of organization is making my heart flutter. The basis for everything will be white shelving and drawers, and I’m about 95% sure we’re going with a lighter wood finish for the floors. As far as customization, here’s a look at some options we’re playing with to dress it all up…

I like the idea of the closet being an extension of our bedroom and making it a pleasing space to get ready in. What do you guys think? What are your must-haves for a dream closet? Anyone have their laundry in their closet?
We want to hear it all! 😉
I love the pullout pant hanger! At Container Store I also saw a pullout full length mirror, a space hack I might borrow. I’m currently saving up for a closet redo, so I am eagerly following along. One thing that attracted us to building new is that our floor plan includes separate, very large his and hers. While they are big spaces, they are basically blank canvases because everything is builders grade, so I’m kind of in the same boat. His shares a wall with our laundry room, so a pocket door might be in our future—because I definitely see the appeal of laundry access in the master (not sure why it wasn’t an option with the builder!). Anyway, in anticipation of my dream closet makeover, I did go ahead and get the Vero Settee from West Elm (in light taupe) and some blush/champagne pillows from Target as a start. Next on the list is a chandelier, and I also have eyes on some West Elm options! Maybe a rug—Anthro for inspo but Amazon or World Market for prices. 🙂
