Today there is a whole lot of Bon Iver playing in the apartment while laundry gets done, and we wait to hear back from our real estate agent. We’re slowlyyyyy (emphasis on the “slowly”) getting closer to being homeowners, which we are so excited about, but we’d be lying if we said this process has been an easy one. After talking to a few friends that are going through the same thing as we are, we all agreed HGTV should really do a show about the behind the scenes part of buying a house. You know, all the super fun parts that they somehow leave out in between talking about granite countertops and stainless steel appliances; things like: faxing your lender paperwork several times because the text comes through all wonky, or trying to find an old pay stub that you’re pretty sure you shredded months back (because hello! Identity theft!) or just the sheer fun of negotiating and multiple offers. We’re keeping our fingers crossed we get some good news today. We began the house hunting process back in March, so we hope we’re getting close to the end. In the midst of tidying up around here and in efforts to keep our minds off of the “what ifs” on the home front, we put together a little round up of some fall sweaters that are on our wish lists. Sweater season is upon us, or at least us Arizonans can dream and play dress up when we temperatures hit the 80s. 😉 See our favorites for him and her below and have a little chuckle with one of our favorite SNL clips while you’re at it.

I totally know what you mean! Our home buying process lasted about 3 1/2 months and once we found “the one” it was a total nightmare working with the sellers. HGTV needs to do a better job at showing realistic home-buying scenarios! It’s more of a headache than they let on! But the reward is great once you’re actually in your new home!! <3 Sending hugs to you guys, I know how crazy this time is.
Thank you so so much! Your positivity is really uplifting. It’s quite the process, but we just keep telling ourselves it will all be worth it in the end. 🙂
I love sweater weather! Good luck on your house hunt, it seems like the process drags out so much sometimes. We are in the process of buying a house now too, but this is our third time around so we have a little better idea what to expect 🙂 Hope it doesn’t take too much longer for you!
Oh wow, congrats! Sounds like you’re a pro now, haha. Thanks for the well wishes, Amy. We’re really looking forward to what’s to come.
My husband and I are in the exact same boat as you right now. We started house hunting last October and have yet to find what we’re looking for. I always thought that actually finding the house would be the hardest part (and, in some ways, it still is), but the mounds of paperwork and fine print details that come after that are almost just as stressful! I’ve never been a part of a process that is so exciting and so frustrating all at the same time, but I’m sure it will be worth it. Best of luck to you!
Thanks Whitney! You really summed it up perfectly. Hope things work out for you and your husband as well! We’re all in this together. 🙂
Hoping for good news for you today! It’s crazy how different different home-buying situations can seem — how quickly things happen for some and then how arduous it is for others. It’ll be worth it, though, when you find and get “the one”!

Thanks so much for the well wishes! It really is true — no two situations are alike. Hoping for some good news soon! xo

So do we! It’s such a classic style. 🙂
I live in Texas and I’m SO hoping for sweater weather! I get excited when the morning starts off overcast and somewhat chilly…but before you know it, it’s back to flip flops and shorts.

It’s not that different here in Phoenix, but we’ve been having cooler days lately so we’re hoping they stick around. Sending fall vibes your way! 😉 xo
they really should show more behind the scenes stuff, it’d certainly but alot of things in perspective when house buying and such.
Yay! i love sweater season so much <3
