We’ve said it once, we’ll say it again: we’re all about versatile wardrobe pieces, especially when transitioning into a new season. We recently teamed up with JCPenney to share looks that can bring you from day to night with their new fall collection. Back in my elementary school days I wore a uniform to school and would always get so excited when the big JCPenney catalog came in. My sisters and I would circle our favorite items, fold the corner of the page down, and share them with our mom. Getting dressed on the weekends or having “dress down day” in school was always something we looked forward to. I couldn’t help but reminisce a bit when putting these looks together. I instantly gravitated towards the Liz Claiborne pieces; they feel so timeless and classic. I often do closet clean outs and always find myself holding on to the essential basics, with clean and minimal designs vs busy patterns. When you begin an outfit with a good base, the possibilities are endless.
A black turtleneck tucked into loose denim has been my favorite everyday look lately. Both pieces have become staples in my wardrobe, along with a great pair of flats that won’t leave your feet aching after running all over town. Throw your hair up in a top-knot, add a bold lip color, and your ready to go!
Okay, so clearly Phoenix is not ready for all these layers yet, but I loved using some of the same pieces from the day time look I sported recently (turtleneck and bag), to create a dressier outfit for a fall/winter date night. One of my favorite ways to change up an outfit is with the addition of a third piece. The third piece is the easiest way to pull a look together and make it feel more complete. This can be anything from a statement necklace, vest, skinny scarf, etc. or in this case the cape. The darker hues and ankle booties reminded me so much of fall style on the east coast: mostly black and pretty sleek.
Here’s a round up of all the pieces for both looks:
EyeBuyDirect glasses | light denim | flats | Liz Claiborne turtleneck, bag, and boots via JCPenney
Yellow 108 hat | black denim | Estee Lauder lip color in “Defiant Coral” | Ciaté nail polish in “Napa Valley”
