The Holiday Spirit

We have spoken about it before, but when we moved to Arizona a little over two years ago one of the hardest transition periods was the holiday season. Arizona and New York are different in so many ways. Some of our regular Christmas traditions like going to see the tree then iceskating in Rockefeller Center, and visiting Hick’s nursery to view and shop for holiday decor, just weren’t doable. We have brought a few traditions with us to the desert and created some new ones too, which always makes us look forward to this time of year. This year we partnered with our friends at Gap and Styld-by to share some holiday looks and traditions. This season decided to do a 12 Days of Christmas with some of our friends to help us get in the holiday spirit. We haven’t exactly done them in order or everyday for that matter, some of them we’ve doubled up in one night…because let’s be honest….the holiday season can get crazy!! Stocking Stuffer Ideas

We both shared the same tradition as kids…opening up our stockings last to see a little surprise on Christmas morning. One thing we always wait til the last minute for around the holidays are stocking stuffers. Sometimes we end up throwing in a few candy canes, a gift card or two, and some chocolates. While those all are fun treats, we wanted to come up with some stocking stuffer ideas that were a bit more useful and thoughtful this year. Dressing Up for the Holidays

New York will really spoil you when the holidays come around. Growing up there, we were so used to how over-the-top everything was and how you couldn’t walk outside without being reminded that the holiday season had arrived. This will be our third Christmas in Phoenix, and while it hasn’t really gotten any more festive, we definitely work hard to create that festive feeling we always had growing up. Every year, we try to take some fun, christmasy photos to capture the feeling of the holidays. This year, we decided to shoot some photos with our new friend, Tish. She just moved here from New Mexico and we’ve been talking about taking some photos together, as she begins to grow her photography business here in Arizona. Holiday Cards with Makr

How is it December already?! It feels like we were just ringing in the new year! We’ve been enjoying the holiday season so far, putting up our Christmas tree, trying to start some early shopping, and planning a fun little holiday party with friends. There’s something about this time of year that makes us all giddy inside. We indulge in every cheesy holiday tradition and event. Every year around this time we say we’re going to send out holiday cards. We think up fun outfits and photo ideas and then the busyness of the season creeps up on us, and before we know it, its the week before Christmas and well…that ship has sailed. Haha.
