I think I might have found my go-to pair of jeans for the summer. Yes, its already almost August so maybe I’m a bit late, and its pretty hot to even be thinking of denim, but I love a good pair of jeans no matter the season. One of the biggest things I realized when moving from the east to west (it seems I’m noticing more and more differences lately, especially in fashion) is the dark to light tones in dressing. East coast is all about dark moody tones, and lots of black (which I do love), but there’s something so calming and youthful about the lighter tones that seem to fill everyone’s wardrobes in Arizona and California. I can’t help but think of the calming vibes of the desert, and fashion in the 70s with relaxed makeup looks and undone hair. There’s something that really draws me in about the whole aesthetic, yet goes against everything I knew about getting dressed and “putting yourself together” for the day. I’m trying to find a nice balance lately. I’ve been loving lighter denim these days, along with a looser fit, which has been really nice for the warmer weather. I put together a few favorites from around the web (with all budgets in mind), that can go great with a basic tank or tee. Check them out below:
Lately, we’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about the Nordstrom Anniversary sale around the web and it’s easy to see why. Today the sale opened to the public and a few items we had our eyes on have already sold out. Every year when the sale rolls around we like to pick up a few essentials we’re running out of…mostly beauty and grooming items like beauty blenders, perfume, cologne, etc… It’s also a great time to save on some bigger ticket items like boots and denim. Here’s some of our favorite #Nsale picks for him & her:
We’re constantly on the hunt for new home decor books. They’re some of our favorite books to flip through when needing some inspiration and to read with a cup of tea in hand, sleepy-eyed in the morning. Our love for interior design is something that just continues to grow over time. We’re always finding ourselves walking into restaurants or shops, admiring the architecture and/or design process, how clothing or items are merchandised, how windows and furniture is placed, and thinking of ways to recreate and reinvent those looks in our own home. It’s something we just instantly gravitate towards. Add in some interior “before and afters” to the mix and that’s a whole other level of excitement! Below we’ve rounded up some of our favorite home decor books that we find ourselves reaching for quite often…

We both shared the same tradition as kids…opening up our stockings last to see a little surprise on Christmas morning. One thing we always wait til the last minute for around the holidays are stocking stuffers. Sometimes we end up throwing in a few candy canes, a gift card or two, and some chocolates. While those all are fun treats, we wanted to come up with some stocking stuffer ideas that were a bit more useful and thoughtful this year. Here are some of our favorite gift ideas, all small enough to fit in a holiday stocking, while still making a big impact. 🙂
FOR BOTH TO SHARE –Ornaments: We just picked this one that holds a polaroid picture with the year on it. –Polaroid film smartphone printer: This thing is too fun. There have been so many times we’ve forgotten our polaroid camera, and wished we had the physical photo to display in our home and for memories. This printer connects to your phone over wifi and prints photos from your camera roll in polaroid form. -Camera/phone accessories: like this fish eye lensand portable charger. -Bring the outdoors in with this miniature bonsai tree kit. -Holiday decor: Love this snow globe picture frame as a gift or to decorate in your home with a family photo. -More candles…because you really can never have too many and P.F. Candle Co’s Teakwood and Tobacco scent is so good. 🙂 -Matching beanies.
We hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving with their family and friends. We had a great holiday celebrating with some friends at our place, eating a lot of turkey, and ending off the night roasting marshmallows around a fire pit in our yard.
Today we are decorating around the house and skipping the lines in the stores, doing a little Black Friday shopping online. 🙂 Below is a round up of some of our favorite sales that are happening this weekend, along with some favorite gift ideas!
Today is our first day home in a few weeks. We’ve been road tripping and flying out to different cities exploring and taking in all the local beauty. Being in cities like Nashville, TN and Grand Rapids, MI got us so excited for fall and cooler temperatures. Although it is still in the 90s, even pushing 100 degrees here in Arizona, we’re still trying to embrace autumn. Here are some things we’re loving for the season:
BOOTS Tall, short, ankle, lace-up…there are so many to choose from! These lace-up styles, for him and her, from CAT Footwear were perfect for exploring Grand Rapids this past weekend. You also can’t go wrong with a classic ankle boot.
PLAID It’s no secret we love plaid around here. Everything from plaid scarves, to flannels, to pjs…we’re all about it. Some favorites this season are from Madewell (Use code: HIGHFALL for 30% off) and J.Crew (Use code: WEEKEND for 30-40% off). They have some awesome flannels for men and women. They are a little pricier than others that you can find, but the quality can’t be beat. We always love pulling these out of the back of our closet around this time of the year.
WEEKENDER BAG We’ve been traveling quite a bit lately, so a good carry-all bag is a must. We picked up this Herschel bag recently from Urban Outfitters, which can hold quite a bit. We were able to fit in three pairs of boots, two jackets and several outfits for our trip over the weekend. (Can’t wait to share some photos from the trip soon!)
BEAUTY When fall rolls around, it’s always fun to experiment with some darker lip shades. Some current favorites this month are: Nars lip pencil in “Cruella”and Mac lipstick in“Diva”.

Since posting our living room makeover (which you all have been so sweet about!), we’ve gotten a few emails and comments about our plant baskets. The two above in the first photo are from Ikea and Home Goods. We’ve also found some pretty great ones at some local thrift stores too, like the magazine one in the second photo. We have baskets in every room in our apartment. We’re slightly obsessed. They’re perfect for storing blankets, magazines and books, laundry, housing plants….the list goes on! Here’s a little round up of some of our favorite baskets on the web!

The big Nordstrom anniversary sale is here! Every year we wait for the sale to roll around to stock up on some great fall essentials. It may be hard to think about cold weather clothes when temperatures are currently reaching 113 degrees, but it really is the best time to snag a deal and get some awesome basics (like skinny jeans and ankle boots) that you’ll wear all year round. We’re especially loving their selection of classic bags. Here are some of our favorites for him and her, along with some home accessories we have our eyes on! 🙂
