I love this cozy time of year with Christmas music playing at home, getting gifts wrapped and under the tree, hot cocoa, all of it…but as beautiful as it all is, it can be stressful. Every year this season hits us like a ton of bricks. The house gets messy with packages coming in, prepping gifts to be sent out for family across the country…our work schedule is ramped up, and every conversation with friends is about how crazy the season is. Why do we all drive ourselves cuckoo this time of year? We’ve spoken about it a bit, but since having Oliver I am constantly reminding myself (or maybe he is reminding me) how important it is to slow down. Now, we all say this, but actually implementing it can be kind of crazy, especially during this time of year.

I’ve probably cried about 6 out of the 7 days this past week. That’s pretty typical this time of year for me, crazy I know, (How many times can I say crazy in this post? Hmm…) but I usually get pretty overwhelmed during the holiday season and usually end up crashing with a good old fashion pajama night and movies, with some online shopping. Two years ago, my body broke down and I got the flu. Anyway, I’m getting off track here…crying, this week, and a lot of it….its actually been because of happiness. It hits me in the early morning while in my bathrobe with Oliver on my lap, eating breakfast, chatting with Rob. It also hits me in the evening when Oliver shoots me a super cute smile and my heart just wants to melt and I’m afraid he’ll never look at me like that again. All crazy mom emotions…and why am I going on and on about this all? Well, it’s these tears, these “mom emotions” if you will, that have helped me slow down. It’s these feelings that have made me want to get outdoors more with this round-faced little baby who giggles when we reach our arms up high with him and his little gasps every time a breeze comes.

We can layer up and get a kick out of Oliver in a cute reindeer hat (because ’tis the season) and a baby sherpa jacket, to kind of match my own (because I will match him as long as he will let me!).

All of our outfits from this outing are from Gap. I’ve been really impressed lately with their selections. I love that I can shop for all of us from their site and get some quality and sustainable pieces. Rob’s jacket is made from 100% recycled materials, which I was pretty impressed with. My white teddy jacket feels like a staple piece that I’ll wear quite a bit as well — I always go for the neutrals! Ollie’s jacket is 100% cotton and reversible — I couldn’t resist! Right now Gap has free shipping on orders over $50 or more. I’m going to link all the pieces below, if you need some holiday gift ideas. They’re all so cozy.
