We’re just a few weeks away from meeting our little babe and my belly is officially starting to feel heavy! Over the last several months, navigating my way through maternity clothing and looking on the internet for some items I’d feel comfortable in, but still like myself felt daunting at times. We all want to feel confident and comfortable, especially as our bodies change, so I figured I’d round up a few key pieces that I have felt the most comfortable in throughout my pregnancy so far. Here’s a bunch of my favorite clothing brands and items that work as maternity wear. They’re not really maternity, so you could wear them long after your baby arrives.

JEANS
Jeans are the only true maternity pieces I have in my closet. I have two pairs of Madewell maternity jeans on rotation but the over the belly ones have definitely been the most comfortable. I ordered my regular size and they’re still working great well into the third trimester.

FLOWY DRESSES
I really didn’t want to invest in many maternity pieces so flowy dresses proved to be the easiest route. Here are some that have been great with my growing belly. I’ll definitely wear these after the baby comes so I didn’t feel guilty about these purchases. I stuck to a lot of my favorite pre-pregnancy brands like Madewell, Free People, Suunday, Sezane and Doen.

Here’s a few I’ve worn throughout my pregnancy…

The Magda Dress from Sezane has been a fav. The babydoll style is so comfy and the top part of this dress has a lot of stretch too! I’ve been eyeing this terracotta dress too, but its sold out in my size – hopefully someone else can enjoy it, because its too pretty! Here’s a few more favorites below:

I’m wearing the Rivera Midi Dress in the photo above. Wrap dresses like this one were great in the beginning…now in my third trimester I feel like I’m gravitating toward babydoll or just shapeless style dresses more.

Here’s a photo at 32 weeks wearing this comfy smock dress from Aerie. It’s on sale for only $30 right now and comes in a ton of colors. I’m loving this styele too.

BRAS + UNDERWEAR
I’m beginning to think of postpartum shapewear and more supportive underwear and bras for after the baby comes, but some of my favorite undergarments during pregnancy have been from Madewell and Aerie. They’re super soft (love these) and haven’t cut into my sides as my belly begins to hang over my waistline. As far as bras goes, I’m small chested, so bralettes have been working out pretty well. Although my bust did get a bit larger, I don’t need a ton of support, always being an A cup all my life that has now changed a (little) bit. Every body is different, so I will say for a little bit more support I have really liked ThirdLove bras and they come in a tonnn of sizes for every body type. They have nursing and maternity bras too I’m going to check out.

LOUNGEWEAR + PAJAMAS
Right around 30 weeks it became clear my go-to pjs weren’t going to cut it anymore. 😉 Madewell tees and undies have been my go-to at night, but I recently ordered this loungewear set in the gray and pink from ThirdLove as well. After ordering a few pairs of maternity leggings and nothing feeling comfortable, I’m glad I finally found these. They have been a lifesaver lately.

  1. Hi ma’am! I’m reading your post about pregnancy style and had a quick question. When you ordered flowy dresses to wear while pregnant did you size up or did it accommodate your growing size even though not maternity? Thanks!
