It’s been a while since we’ve done one of these life updates so we thought we’d take some time to fill you guys in and also get things “down on paper” to help sort some things out ourselves. 🙂

HOME
We are getting so close! Countertops and backsplash went in last Monday and now we’re just waiting for the floors to be sanded and stained and the custom bookcase to be installed. The closet built-ins went in recently and we cannot wait to get in there and organize everything. We’re working with The Container Store on the design and can’t wait to share it all! Washer/dryer are here too, just waiting for the stacking kit to arrive so we can get everything in it’s place. We did laundry in our house yesterday for the first time in six months with our Spotify tunes going and it felt so nice!

(*More renovation posts here, if you’re curious.)

Some evenings we just sit in the house and look around at everything, imagine where the furniture will go, what artwork will be hung where and all that good stuff. Six months out of our home has really made us realize how much of a piece of us this house has become and how we can’t wait to create more memories here.

FRIENDS & FAMILY
If you follow along with us on IG, you might have seen we lost a dear friend of ours, Vincent. We have hesitated sharing about his passing as we feel like the focus should be on him, his beautiful and adventurous life and his infectious spirit, verses our grief or our pain. It has been weird navigating through this all. We’ve had some trouble moving forward and sharing day to day posts, as there hasn’t been a day that passes that we don’t think of him. It’s been amazing to see how loved he’s been and how many lives he has touched through the outpouring of love he has received on his social media pages. This past weekend we went to Seattle for his celebration of life service. It was really special to finally meet Vincent’s family, more of his friends, and share stories about Vincent. Making friends as adults can be a weird thing, but Vincent instantly became family…we just clicked and we’ve been missing him everyday. Seeing so much of his photography framed and displayed in one room, filled with so much love was pretty powerful. I think we left with a big reminder of how much Vincent brought (so many good) people together, his positive nature and his ability to live everyday to the fullest. People were dancing and singing and it reminded us how important it is to celebrate each other and always have a positive outlook.

TRAVEL
We had a big trip to Amsterdam planned for the end of the month with some friends and over the weekend we decided to cancel, or postpone it rather. It feels like a lot has been going on lately with the house and friends and family, so we figured it would be best to just stay put for a while…recalibrate if you will. We love traveling, there’s no doubt about that, but the house project should be wrapping up soon and we want to be around just in case any unforeseen things pop up. Maybe a small trip up north or a few days visiting a city within the U.S. to get our “fall fix” might be in order, but other than that we are really happy to be home.

Next week we’ll be heading to Joshua Tree for a little project and to hang with some friends. We’re not exactly sure when we’ll be out there, but we’re looking forward to it. Hopefully it is a calm few days spent outdoors.

Other than that, we’re enjoying this breezy day today. Arizona’s fall feels more like a New York spring, but we’ll take it…sweaters and all! 😉 Morning chai teas have been making the days feel very autumn like and festive. It feels good! Guess that’s about it for now…we’ll update more later in the week. Thanks for always checking in and following along!

Here’s some fall favorites we’ve been loving….

  1. I love hearing about the progress you guys have going on with your place. It’s always the BEST feeling when you can go to sleep, wake up and hangout in it. It just feels right. Hope your days are well, happy Autumn!

  3. I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your friend… it sounds like he was really a special person. I hope his celebration of life was a little bit of comfort to everyone, it seems like he was really at peace when he passed which is a strange silver lining to illness sometimes. Fuck cancer.

  4. I love your kitchen renovation so far! Can you tell me what counter top you went with?
I recently was in Phoenix and I love how it has changed over the years. We used to live in Tempe in 1999-2000 and I love all the great restaurants in downtown Phoenix now. My friend and I ate at Churchill and it was the best sandwich I’ve ever had.
