Tom’s of Maine in Arizona

*This post has been made in partnership with Tom’s of Maine. As always, all thoughts and opinions are our own. Thank you for reading.

We’ve made a lot of changes in our life since moving to Arizona. Arizona as a place wasn’t necessarily the driving force, but the move definitely felt like the turning point for when a lot of things shifted in our lives. A few years after moving here, we changed our eating habits, cutting out red meat and pork, all fast food, and alcohol (with the occasional champagne toast or glass of wine). We started feeling physi- cally better after paying more attention to what we were putting in our bodies. Naturally we became more aware of what we were using on our bodies…I’m talking skincare, face washes, body washes, deodorants, etc. Our search for natural products began, but thankfully we didn’t have to go too far. We’re excited to partner with one of our favorite natural brands, Tom’s of Maine, on today’s blog post, celebrating their natural approach to skincare using some of nature’s most trusted botanicals.

Essential oils have always been a staple in our house…particularly lavender. I also love Shea butter. I was excited to find that Tom’s of Maine had a body wash combining the two. It’s been our go-to summer body wash scent, which has been perfect for weekends up north, getting outdoors, and enjoying one of our local favorite trails just forty five minutes from our home. The vibe is totally different than where we live, so it always feels good to get out for a bit and enjoy the fresh air. After all the rain last week, we threw on some comfy clothes, filled up a few water bottles and decided to spend the afternoon with nature.

We starting using Tom’s because of their natural deodorant and toothpaste, but their body washes have become part of our daily routine, as well. The Lavender & Shea Body Wash is our favorite scent, along with their Creamy Coconut Beauty Bar.  Making sure we’re getting outdoors enough (even in this heat), drinking plenty of water, and using natural and good-for-you products have become such a passion of ours. When we really sit down and think about what’s important to us, what we’re passionate about incorporating into our everyday, it’s creating a healthy lifestyle.

Plus, Tom’s of Maine body wash line is vegan, the packaging is recyclable and free of animal testing, which Henry gives two paws up for. 😉 We need to take him on our next outing…maybe up to Sedona with us next time. We’ve done a few local trails with him and he’s always such a trooper.

Every time we venture outside of Phoenix where there’s more land, we find ourselves talking about if we would ever move to Sedona or Flagstaff. The older we get, the more we appreciate the extra land, the serenity and just calmness that comes along with being in nature. In Sedona and Flagstaff you get to do just that. There’s not much else to do, other than be outdoors and appreciate your surroundings. I feel like with the technology based culture we live in, it’s almost healthy to be forced to unplug and unwind. The same way we need to nurture our bodies with good products and healthy food, we need to feed our souls as well. For us, being outdoors does just that.
