L’Auberge de Sedona

One of our favorite quick Phoenix getaways is the short hour and a half drive up to Sedona.  It’s enough of a temperature drop to be the perfect summer escape, but it’s also the perfect change in scenery throughout the entire year too.  We recently loaded up the car, packed a tote bag of Henry’s favorite things, and headed up north to L’Auberge de Sedona.  We visited once before with my parents, but felt it was time for another trip with the pup for a few days of serenity, room service, and most importantly the views of the breathtaking red rocks.

Sedona is one of those places that you can either do a ton of hiking, souvenir shopping, and sight seeing or thanks to the views, you can literally just do nothing but look around you and feel equally as satisfied.  This time around, we opted for the latter.  We have no regrets. Ha! We’ve been to Sedona enough times to not feel like we were missing out as we’ve already done many of the hikes and sightseeing around the area, but if you are planning a trip, definitely take advantage of everything in town.  Our favorite hike is West Fork Trail if you’re interested :).

So much of our time was spent on our balcony that overlooked Oak Creek. We still worked while we were there and kept up with things throughout our visit, but doing it creekside definitely helps. We felt way more relaxed than usual which was exactly what we were looking for. We even stopped in one afternoon for a blending session, where we created our own bath salts…we went for the desert rain scent. 🙂 It was chilly enough at night to use the fireplace which added to all the cozy vibes. We are missing that quite a bit right about now!

A highlight from our trip was the creekside walks with Henry who, as we found out, is apparently not a huge fan of ducks. He would pretend to be a little angel looking all handsome, and then randomly he would lunge at the ducks, which not only terrified the ducks, but us as well. Haha! We also loved our dinner at Cress that is located on the property. We both opted for the delicious Halibut that left our bellies pretty full and very happy. Our favorite moments though, were the quiet ones.  Our mornings were spent just peacefully listening to the birds, and quite frankly, that is exactly the kind of trip we wanted to have. Our day-to-day in Phoenix is often filled with meetings around town, shooting photos, or just running errands, but a few days on a slower routine is always the perfect way to reset our busy brains and head back down to Phoenix with a clearer mind.  We are already looking forward to our next trip up to L’Auberge which will probably be right around the time the temperatures hit 100 degrees here, which (sadly) is probably not that far away.
