Our Backyard Bistro Area: The Plan

Aug 07, 2017 | By New Darlings

We have been working on our second patio area with the Havenly team and are looking forward to putting the finishing touches on it when we get back to town. The goal for this space is to create a tranquil reading area off the guest house (when that’s completed). The previous owners used the space as their BBQ/outdoor dining area. We placed our dining table in another spot in the yard and are excited to use this space as an area for guests to relax and nosh on some treats together.

I love how this yard has separate areas to kick back and relax in. From this area you have a full view of the yard, fire pit (still wondering if we should update that or not), and the little rose garden. Right now everything looks dead in AZ, but we’re hoping we can change that with a little landscape magic.

In the photo above you can see some of the bamboo fence that we’ll be removing, and the side of the old chicken coop (to the left) where the new shed now sits.

Currently we’re at the demo stage (seen above)…pavers being ripped up, new landscaping going in, shed getting painted, etc. It’s been a fun little space to watch take shape. Don’t you love that pink strip on the garage that our old contractors left? Haha This will all be repainted. Furniture wise, we really wanted to play with textures here while keeping the design cohesive to the first patio space.

Here’s a look at the plan, color palette and textures:
