I was one of those kids who had braces and got glasses at the same time, which was during my last year in middle school. Let’s just say I didn’t feel super stylish walking into high school, which now looking back on was pretty silly. Childhood insecurities. I remember harping over it, like most adolescents do leading up to the first day of school. Just to add to it all, in the midst of my glasses/braces fit, a family member so kindly reminded me “guys don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses.” They all got a good chuckle out of it, while I acted dramatic about the whole thing, leaning up against our very Brady Bunch-esque orange countertops in the kitchen. Well, I got over it pretty quickly and learned that whole misquote of Dorothy Parker, was ridiculous.
Now, I wear my glasses proudly and love how they also act as accessory to any outfit. Here are my go-to places for buying glasses online:
So let’s begin with one of my favorites, Warby Parker. I love how you can customize so many of their frames by taking a pair of sunglasses and turning it an optical pair, which I have done once or twice. They’re frames are durable and affordable and you can email them your prescription from your optometrist, so it’s easy peasy. My most worn pair is the Durand frame, followed by my new favorite, Hadley.
They don’t have a huge optical selection, but you get a pretty great choice of some designer brands like Prada and Miu Miu.
A few fun pairs below:
Again, similar to Shopbop, there isn’t a HUGE selection like some of the other websites, but they carry some amazing styles by one of my new favorites Derek Lam. Love this pair! These rounder frames by Corinne McCormack are also super cute and really affordable.
If you like color, Coastal will probably be your favorite online destination for new frames. They have a ton of classic shapes in many vibrant shades plus their lenses are super thin.
