New Darlings - Welcome Home Henry!New Darlings - At Home Fall Harvest Decorations

Last Sunday we welcomed a new addition to our family: our little pup Henry. We adopted him from our local animal shelter. After hearing about how the Phoenix shelters have been severely overcrowded, we found ourselves taking a drive over there. We’ve been talking about bringing a dog into our home for some time now and it all seemed to fall into place. We instantly gravitated toward Henry and knew we couldn’t leave without him. He’s a little timid and still warming up to us, but he loves cuddling up between the two of us and follows us everywhere around the apartment.  He has been so fun to have around, and has definitely made some instant changes to our regular routine. We are now early birds and taking walks sometimes before the sun even rises, which has actually been really nice. We’re so curious about his back story and on every walk we take him on, we find ourselves coming up with different versions of what his life was like before we found him. The shelter said he was there since the first week of October. We can’t imagine how someone else didn’t fall in love with him before we did. He is really just the sweetest and we are so happy to have him home with us. He’s been such a source of joy and calmness around here, which we are happy to embrace.

On Thursday night we attended The Ivy Event hosted by our amazing friends Matt & Leah from Tremaine Ranch.  It was great to get out of the apartment for a bit, see our friends, and chat it up with the talented, creatives of Arizona. It was nice to see so many friendly and familiar faces in one room and on the dance floor. 😉

Things have been a little crazy on the home front. We feel like we’re always saying that, but this process has been truly an unforgettable one. More on that later in the week though. This weekend, we are looking forward to finishing up our Halloween costumes, spending lots of time with Henry, and making some stew. What’s everyone else up to?

Here’s few links from around the web we enjoyed this week.

1 – We loved reading these Expectations vs. Reality for life in Arizona.  Our families back East definitely need to check this out too. 😉

2 – This song has been playing a lot around here lately.  They don’t make ’em like they used to.

3 – Loved this white wall discussion over on the Young House Love podcast ft. Elsie Larson & Katie Bower.

4 – West Elm is giving 20% off your entire purchase.  This is always the best time to add a few items to our living room.

5 – Everything Artifact Uprising does is brilliant, but these might just be our favorites right now.

6 – We always find ourselves going back to this 2014 New York Times post about the home of the Schoolhouse Electric folks.  Always so inspiring!

7 – October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, and we are so happy to have brought Henry into our home last weekend.

8 – So obsessed with these coats at Everlane for her and him.

9 – The last few months of the year usually bring the best movies and this might be the one we are most excited about.

10 – The funniest twitter reactions to the Final Presidential Debate made us laugh a little too hard.

  1. What an adorable pup! You’re right about how it’s hard to imagine someone not falling in love with him before you did! So sad that so many animals go unwanted. It’s great to be able to save at least one to give them the love they deserve! As a dog lover and not having one for many years, I feel inspired to adopt one as well 😉
