Thinking back, the whole trip still feels like a dream and we’re already talking about going back, especially to France! We only spent one day there, but it was enough to completely suck us in and we can see ourselves spending a few weeks there to explore the entire country.  We’ve been saying that for quite a while now, but one of these days we’re hoping to make it a reality!

We still can’t believe its been a month since we’ve been back from our European trip with Princess Cruises.

Our day started off with our ship docking at Marseille Pier, where we hopped on a bus and explored Lourmarin on foot for the first part of the day.  It was a bit cloudy and a little chilly, so we threw on the warmest outfits we packed for our afternoon around France. We’re not going to lie, we were a little bummed we weren’t going to see Paris on this trip, but Lourmarin was such a charming village! The photos really don’t do this place justice. The views were beautiful with a countryside feel and small village built around a towering Renaissance castle, Chateau de Lourmarin. It truly felt like we had stepped back in time. We explored the area a bit and were immediately taken with the fields of green and animals that roamed the open land. Inside the chateau we browsed some local artists’ exhibitions.  The paintings brought us back and rekindled memories of artwork that hung in our grandparents’ homes growing up. Afterwards, we grabbed some coffee and tea at Café Gaby, which was in the village center and people-watched for a bit before getting back on the motor coach to our next stop in Aix-en Provence.

Aix-en Provence was a completely different pace.  It’s a beautiful little city in the south of France filled with art, markets and so many fountains.  There were people laughing in the streets with shopping bags in hand, couples sitting together on benches snacking, and boisterous cafés and restaurants on every corner. It was a fun place to be for sure. We immediately headed to Patisserie Béchard to satisfy our macaron craving.  We filled up one of their signature red boxes with as many pastries as we could possibly fit into it and then headed over to the Fontaine de la Rotonde.  We could’ve spent hours just snacking away and admiring the amazing lion sculptures that surrounded the fountain.  European architecture is on a completely other level.  We were just blown away.  On our way back to the bus, we stopped at a lovely little flower market and wondered why the US hasn’t gotten the memo about putting one on every single street corner.  We wished there was a way to pack our luggage up with bunches of peonies in every shade.

  1. You all took stunning photos. In fact your blog always captures great fashion and style. Can’t wait to see one day a bambino from you all and the posting of baby fashion.

    1. Paris is definitely on our list, but we’re glad we got to see some parts of the country we wouldn’t normally think to go. The countryside was so beautiful!

  2. Great post guys 🙂 I’m very glad you visited Aix-en-Provence and enjoy the South of France! It’s such a beautiful city! You have to come back and visit the rest of France like Toulouse or the Brittany or Normandy region! There are so many amazing places here 😀 I’d be your guide! ahah
